Mr. Happy Burger was founded by Bob “Haps” Shanks in November of 1961 after he recognized the growing popularity of fast-food restaurants. Upon opening in 1961, a burger with milkshake and fries cost 45 cents. Hap sold so many 15-cent burgers in his first year he decided to close the restaurant on Sundays in observance of the Sabbath, a tradition that continues to this day

Mr. Happy Burger has a very distinct 50’s and 60’s feel with a large collection of Coca-Cola and other memorabilia, as well as a stand-alone ice cream counter and easily identifiable by the larger-than-life-size steer by the roadside out front that has become a Logansport icon.
